Counselors & Mentors
Adults who deliver the STEM Nova Awards program are referred to as STEM Nova Counselors and Supernova Mentors. These are registered positions within Scouting America. Approval of these positions is done through the local council. Those who are interested in serving as a STEM Nova Counselor or Supernova Mentor must submit an adult application and complete Youth Protection Training.
STEM Nova Counselors and Supernova Mentors may not deliver the program or meet with any Scouting youth until their Scouting America adult leader application has been approved and processed, including completion of Youth Protection Training.
Scouting America adult leaders who are already registered must submit an application for STEM nova Counselor and/or Supernova Mentors as a duplicate membership.
Program Updates
Effective starting June 1, 2025, all STEM Nova and Super NOVA awards and content will be removed from Scouting.org. STEM Nova and Super NOVA awards will not be available in ScoutBook and STEM Nova and Super NOVA counselor positions are no longer registered positions in Scouting America.
Michigan Crossroads Council is committed to STEM programming for all of our Scouts. We will continue to provide, revise, and expand the STEM programs to provide these critical skills to our youth.
