Your Scouts can apply now for the 2025-26 Scouts BSA Youth Council

Know any Scouts BSA youth eager to have their voices heard at all levels in Scouting America? This is the opportunity for them!

The Scouts BSA Youth Council, aimed at putting youth perspectives central in program decision making, provides an incredible opportunity for qualified youth to give input and shape strategy on some of the most important topics in the organization.

Now in its fifth year, the council is ready to fill its ranks with a new lineup of Scouts for the 2025-26 term.  The Council meets every first Sunday of the month form 7-9pm ET.

For the next few months, youth at least 14 years old and not yet 18 during the entire term (September 2025 through May 2026) may apply if they meet the following criteria:

  • Currently in the Scouts BSA program
  • Achieved First Class rank or higher
  • Serving or have previously served in a position of responsibility in a Scouts BSA troop
  • Scouts who apply must secure a parent or legal guardian’s permission to serve on the council. They should also be prepared to spend about 60 to 90 minutes completing the online application. Note: Applicants cannot save their progress and return later, so they’ll need to allow enough time to complete it in one sitting.
  • Applying Scouts will be asked to share basic info, along with details about their Scouting experience, positions they’ve held, honors and awards they’ve earned, and events they’ve attended or staffed.

Encourage your qualified Scouts to apply for the youth council using this online application. The deadline to apply is August 15, 2025.   Applicants will be notified of the selection decision via email by mid-September 2025.
