Leaders:  Holding an event/campout that includes members from a unit that doesn’t share your Chartering Organization?

Due to Scouting America policy, if a unit intends to hold an event that welcomes registered members of another Chartering Organization, then Council permission is required. This form must be submitted at least 60 days before the event. A council representative will reply with the response. For details on why units are required to complete the form, please see the section “Why is this form needed?”

Typical Multi-unit activities:

  • Arrow of Light Weekends for Troops to promote retention into Scouts BSA
  • Units filling spots in a BSA specialty program (for instance aquarium overnights or Chief Pontiac Trail events)

Why is this form needed?

Chartering Organizations have an important role in the program and activities of their chartered units. Chartering Organizations promote well-planned events and encourage units to participate in outdoor programs. Chartering Organizations are not authorized to plan, promote, or deliver programs for units outside of their charter. The council’s role is to plan long-term or resident camps and the district programs teams plan camporees (short-term camps) and other outings following National Camp Accreditation Program standards. Units with different Chartered Organizations wishing to hold activities together must have council approval.
