At a recent board meeting, the Executive Board of the Michigan Crossroads Council voted unanimously to accept a purchase offer for Paul Bunyan Scout Reservation property located in Rose City, Michigan. The sale of this property which has been on the market for a few years, will also bring the council closer to eliminating annual property taxes on remaining properties which currently are in excess of over $120,000 per year. Under the State of Michigan tax code, the Michigan Crossroads Council is allowed to exempt 5,200 acres. The use of the proceeds from the sale of the Paul Bunyan property will be determined by the Executive Board at an upcoming meeting. We are excited about the program opportunities and property improvements that the sale will create for the Scouts and Scouters served in Michigan.
