MISSION

The Mission of the 2019 Rendezvous is to offer participants and community members Scouting’s primary aims of character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness through a shared adventure experience.

OVERVIEW

The 2019 Rendezvous exists to unite the Scouting community for a weekend that energizes and excites attendees through world class programs, exhibits,  activities, and shows. We bring all levels of Scouting members together from our kindergarten-aged Lion Cub Scouts to our young-adult Venturers who will be collectively supported by parents, leaders, advisors and staff. This event will be the largest Scouting activity ever in the state, and the largest Boy Scouts of America event in the country in 2019! Participants will have the opportunity to experience hands-on high-adventure programs, exhibits, camping, and arena shows. For most Scouts, this will be the mountain-top experience of their Scouting careers.

For the first time since 1995, the Rendezvous is being held in Detroit, ensuring that our character building and outdoor adventure programs are available to all of  the youth of our council.

ENCAMPMENT

In one afternoon, current and prospective Scouts will erect nearly 6000 tents, making it the fastest growing neighborhood in the state of Michigan at that time.  Scouts will spend two nights camped with their Packs, Troops, and Crews, supported by volunteer leaders and staff. Meals will be prepared on-site by the youth members within their campsites, using both traditional and modern outdoor cooking methods.
