Imagine backpacking in the Sangre de Cristo mountain paradise of Philmont… testing your skills in hiking, rock climbing, fishing, and much more! The Water and Woods Field Service Council is sending 1 crew to experience Philmont Scout Ranch in 2019.  12 total spots are available. Each crew consists of 10 youth and 2 adults  (must have more youth than adults in each crew). (we may be able to add a second crew) Dates are July 15-27, 2019 (additional days will be required for travel – usually 1-2 days on either side of trek dates). 

COST: The exact cost for the Philmont expedition is TBA  and will be available within the coming months.  Estimated costs will range from $1600- $1900 on up, depending on mode of transportation, side trips, etc. Each participant will be responsible for a $200 deposit to reserve their spot in the contingent of their choice. This deposit is non-refundable after April 1, 2018, but is transferrable to a new attending Scout.  In order to guarantee their spot in the contingent, participants need to make a $125 payment each month so council can keep up with our payments.  Money is fully refundable until September 1, 2018 or transferrable to a new attending Scout.  If we are overbooked, first time youth attendees will be given priority.

AGE REQUIREMENTS: All participants must be at least 14 years of age by the first day of the trip OR be 13 and have completed the eighth grade before the start of the trek in the summer of 2019.  For Venturers, females may only attend if an adult female at least 21 years old attends.

CREW SIZE: We have a total of 12 spots (1 Crew) reserved. A crew is 7-12 members. 

ADULT SUPERVISION: Mandatory 2 adults are required to attend with each crew.  (One may be 18 years old). There is a maximum of 4 adults per Crew group.  Youth have priority over adults.  At least one adult must be certified in Wilderness First Aid Training.
