October 12 @ 1:00 pm - October 13 @ 4:30 pm
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) and (IOLS) Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training. You will be trained in each at this course.
The course runs from 1 pm Saturday, October 12, 2019 – 4:30 pm Sunday, October 13, 2019. All leaders taking this course are required to set up their overnight tent. The cost is $25 per participant by October 4th, 2019, then $30 after that date. The course fee includes meals (dinner Saturday, cracker barrel, breakfast and lunch Sunday) and training materials. Training will be held at East Olive Community Center in St. Johns.
The Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO – C32) introduces parents and leaders to the skills needed to plan and conduct outdoor pack activities, particularly camping. BALOO prepares pack leaders to plan and carry out outdoor experiences. Note: All BALOO participates must complete the online portion of BALOO in my.scouting before attending or you will not be signed off at this event.
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS – S11) is required training for Scoutmasters and their assistants. Working as Patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic outdoor skills required to obtain the First Class rank. This course is also recommended for Venturing and Sea Scout leaders to provide them with the basic skills necessary to conduct their outdoor programs.
