Michigan Fall Salmon and Steelhead Base Camp

Fall Salmon and Steelhead Base Camp is located in the western part of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula at Gerber Scout Reservation.  Located in Twin Lake, Michigan, Gerber Scout Reservation has over 800 acres and abundant natural resources, including multiple inland lakes teeming with fish.  Gerber is the perfect basecamp for all of your adventures.

The camp runs for one week, October 12-18, 2025.  The cost of the camp is $580 for the full week — all inclusive (does not include getting to and from camp). Reserve your spot at this spectacular fishing destination.  Registration is limited to 30 anglers.

Guests will enjoy three full meals a day along with snacks and fruit to keep you energized throughout your days on the waters.   Our location affords the opportunity to fish the waters throughout “western-lower” Michigan, including on the MuskegonPere Marquette, and Manistee Rivers.  We are also not far from Lake Michigan.

FOOD

There is always food available as early as 6am in the form of a wide variety of snacks and fruit. But best of all are our regularly scheduled meals located in our dining hall.

  • Breakfast: There is a full, hot breakfast from 7:00 – 8:00 am every day. If you want to get up earlier and get out fishing, there is a continental breakfast available from 6:00 – 8:00 am. 

  • Lunch: There is a full, hot lunch at 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm. If you want to stay out fishing all day, there will be fixings for sandwiches, fruit, granola bars, chips, etc. to pack in the early morning starting as early as 6:00 -7:00 am, if needed. 

  • Dinner: There is a hot and wonderful dinner every evening at 6:30 pm. Save room for desert.

If you have dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance of camp. If your trip is being coordinated by a club or group leader, let them know and they will forward the information to us. If you are not with a club or group, we will be sending out a form where you can indicate restrictions or special requests.

What is included:

  • Three full, hot meals a day prepared by our onsite chef. Plus all the snacks and fruit you can eat.
  • Bunkhouse lodging with private restroom and shower facilities located at Gerber Scout Reservation. (While twin sized bunk beds are provided, no top bunks will be utilized.)
  • Kitchenettes are available for use in each bunkhouse area.
  • All bunkhouses area heated.

CHECKLIST

  • Laundry detergent & softener – We have both washers and dryers

What you should bring:

  • Sleeping bag and/or blanket
  • Flat twin XL size sheet to cover mattress
  • Thin twin air mattress (OPTIONAL) to add on top of camp mattresses
  • Pillow(s)
  • Shower shoes
  • Wash cloths and towels
  • Standard toiletry bag
  • Personal medications
  • Sunscreen (UV rays are much more intense at higher altitudes)
  • Insect repellent (either DEET or Picaridin)
  • Light/medium coat for 30-50 temps at night (Layer up)
  • Rain gear
  • Walking shoes when not fishing (closed toes are best because of gravel and sticks)
  • Wide brim hat and neck gaiters
  • Polarized sunglasses
  • Flashlight and / or head lamp
  • Water bottle / canteen (Drink lots of water!). Also consider water bottles with filters or life straws.
  • Camp chair
  • Alcoholic beverages are permitted at Base Camp.
